How-To Guides

For less than $20 per year, you can get custom or local U.S. and Canadian phone numbers through our virtual numbers offering at http://my.voxox.com/. When you have a VoxOx® number, you get a number of additional inbound calling features with it.

Keep reading to learn how you can forward your virtual number to your cell phone and other phones, check voicemail, conference-in up to 20 people on your call, retrieve inbound faxes, and receive/forward inbound SMS, and more.

Routing Calls to Your Cell Phone or Other Phone Numbers

Whenever someone calls your new virtual number, the call will immediately be routed to your VoxOx account according to the call routing rules you’ve set up in your Find Me call forwarding.

For example, if you’ve set up all your VoxOx calls to forward to your work phone, then your cell phone, then your home phone, all calls to your new virtual number will follow the same path to reach you. Note that if you’ve purchased multiple virtual numbers, all will follow the same set of forwarding rules. To set up or adjust call forwarding rules, go to VoxOx Find Me, which can be accessed at my.voxox.com under My Account —> Phone Numbers and Settings —> Find Me. You can also adjust your settings within the VoxOx desktop software under Preferences —> Phone Settings, by calling your VoxOx phone number, or, if you’re an iPhone user, within the VoxOx Call iPhone app under More —> Phone Settings (Find Me Numbers).

Checking Voicemail

When you start receiving phone calls to your new virtual number, keep in mind that any voice messages will be left in your VoxOx voicemail. You can access VoxOx voicemail in the footer of the VoxOx desktop software, by calling your VoxOx phone number, or in the VoxOx Call iPhone app under More —> Voicemail. You can also set up email and SMS notifications in the desktop client under Preferences —> Notifications.

VoxOx On-Call Options

When you place or receive calls through a VoxOx phone number, you have additional perks, regardless of what phone you take the call on – desktop, mobile, landline. You can screen calls, record calls on-the-fly (*1 to start/stop recording), transfer calls to another phone (*2), start conference calls with up to 20 people (press *3 to add friends to your call), and listen in on voicemails in real-time with our Eavesdrop™ feature.

Inbound SMS

You can also receive inbound SMS to your virtual number, as well as route the texts to your mobile phone. SMS forwarding options can be accessed in the Notifications section of the VoxOx desktop software. If you have the VoxOx Call iPhone app, you can also view SMS in the mobile interface.

Inbound Fax

Virtual numbers are fax-enabled, so you can receive faxes. You can retrieve inbound faxes in the footer of the VoxOx desktop software, within the VoxOx Call iPhone app or through a link in a VoxOx email notification that will be sent to your email inbox. Email notifications can be adjusted in the desktop client under Preferences —> Notifications.

Where to Access Your VoxOx Virtual Numbers

To view your new VoxOx virtual phone number(s), go to my.voxox.com under My Account—> Virtual Numbers.

Tip: the phone number you see displayed at the top of your VoxOx desktop client will continue to be your free VoxOx number, as that is your main phone line through VoxOx.
