JOIN THOSE who have made their phones a powerful VoxOx-enabled phone. And best of all — it's FREE.

How-To Guides

When you sign up for VoxOx®, you get a free U.S. phone number selected at random (or you can also purchase local U.S. or Canadian numbers) in all supported countries. If you live outside of the U.S. or Canada, or you’re traveling abroad, we have another solution for you: you can get a free VoxOx iNum® number.

Once you activate your free iNum number, your VoxOx can be dialed at a local phone number in 45 countries worldwide. And from any phone, too! Just follow the instructions below on how to get it and how to use it.

Activate Your iNum Number (Free) at the VoxOx Store

Go to our online store at my.voxox.com, sign in with your VoxOx credentials, and follow instructions for activating your free iNum number.

How to Make a Call Using iNum

Let’s say your sister is studying abroad in Argentina and you want her to be able to call you on VoxOx in Mexico at a local rate. Here’s what you do:

  1. Send her your new iNum number, and tell her to save it as [your name]‘s iNum.
  2. Point her to this list of local access phone numbers. (Tip: In this case, the cheapest number for her to reach you at would be the Argentine number, 54-11-598-39-500.)
  3. When she is ready to call you, she should dial the Argentine phone number. When prompted, she should enter your iNum number.
  4. Her call will immediately be routed to your VoxOx account wherever you are, and follow any forwarding rules you’ve set up. (Tip: This is when you’d pick up and say hello!)

Local Access Numbers List

Keep on file this list of local phone numbers that your long-distance friends and family (or you!) can use to reach your VoxOx phone number for the cost of a local call. There are 45 countries, so a non-U.S. caller would simply dial the local access number closest to their location, followed your iNum number (as in the Argentina example above.)

Read on to learn what else you can do with your iNum number, including how to route calls to your cell phone and other phone numbers, check voicemail, transfer calls, record calls and conference in others.

Routing Inbound iNum Calls to Your Cell Phone or Other Phone Numbers

Whenever someone calls your iNum number, the call will immediately be funneled through your VoxOx account according to the call routing rules you’ve set up in your Find Me call forwarding.

For example, if you’ve set up all your VoxOx calls to forward first to your cell phone and then your home phone, all calls to your iNum number will follow the same path to reach you.

To set up or adjust call forwarding rules, go to VoxOx Find Me, which can be accessed at my.voxox.com under My Account —> Phone Numbers and Settings —> Find Me. You can also adjust your settings within the VoxOx desktop software under Preferences —> Phone Settings, by calling your VoxOx phone number, or, if you’re an iPhone user, within the VoxOx Call iPhone app under More —> Phone Settings (Find Me Numbers).

Checking Voicemail

When you start receiving phone calls through your iNum number, keep in mind that any voice messages will be left in your VoxOx voicemail. You can access VoxOx voicemail in the footer of the VoxOx desktop software, by calling your VoxOx phone number, or in the VoxOx Call iPhone app under More —> Voicemail. You can also set up email and SMS notifications in the desktop client under Preferences —> Notifications.

VoxOx On-Call Options

When you receive calls through any of your VoxOx numbers, including iNum, you have additional perks, regardless of what device you take the call on — whether it’s your desktop, mobile phone, landline, or another phone. You can record calls (*1 to start/stop recording), transfer calls to another phone (*2), start conference calls with up to 20 people (press *3 to add friends to your call), and listen in on voicemails in real-time or pick the caller up out of voicemail through our Eavesdrop feature.
