VoxOx Call iPhone app – Making Call Connect Calls
A quick guide for how to use Call Connect and key VoxOx Call for iPhone app features. Get the app from iTunes.
Making Call Connect Calls
You can make super cheap long-distance phone calls from your own mobile phone by using our Call Connect service via the VoxOx Call iPhone app.
In most countries, inbound calls to your mobile are free. So, the way this works is we turn your outbound calls into inbound calls!
First an Important Question…
If you were to receive an inbound call right now on your mobile phone, would you have to pay a roaming charge? (For example, did you bring your U.S. iPhone with you on an international trip?)
If you answered “yes”, check out our special travel instructions. If not, keep reading!
Making Call Connect Calls via VoxOx iPhone app
1. When you open the VoxOx Call iPhone app, you’ll see the VoxOx Keypad, which looks similar to the iPhone keypad
2. When you are ready to make a call, simply dial the phone number and wait a few seconds
3. You’ll then get an incoming call with a message along the lines of “please wait while I connect you” and shortly after that your friend will appear on the line. Say “hello” and start talking!
NOTE: If you’re placing an international call, go to More —> Phone Settings —> Default Country Code and select the country where you’d like to call
What it costs
While on a Call Connect call, you will be charged VoxOx’s per minute calling rates for both legs of the call (the call to your mobile phone and the call to the other person’s phone). So, if you have a U.S. number ($.01/min) and you’re calling a Hong Kong number ($.01/min), you’ll be charged a total of $.02/min from your VoxOx account. Costs vary by country, click here to view calling rates.
Successful use of Call Connect is dependent on a variety of factors, including third-party carrier services that we do not control. If you are having trouble with this feature, please submit a customer support ticket online.
Remote Control Feature: Using iPhone App to Connect Calls on Other Phones
For slightly more tech savvy users, the VoxOx Call mobile app can also be leveraged as a remote control for connecting calls between any two calling devices worldwide. This is particularly helpful when using the app on an iPad or iPod Touch, which are capable of installing mobile apps, but are not technically phones. Our Call Connect service will bridge the two calls together at the same low VoxOx rates. Here’s how:
1. Go to More —> Phone Settings, and change the Mobile # to indicate the phone number of the calling device from which you would like to place the call – let’s pretend you want to take the call on your desk phone
2. In the same window, you can change the caller ID to reflect the phone you’ll now be using for the call (or leave your cell or VoxOx number, based on your preference)
3. Go to Keypad and dial the phone number you’d like to call
4. In a few seconds you’ll receive a call to your desk phone – pick it up!
5. A moment later the party you called will be on the line – voila, you’ve made a super cheap international phone call on a regular landline, but paying VoIP rates!
